The Formosan Society for Performing Arts Inc. (FOSPA) is a nonprofit, non-religious cultural organization founded in 2006 by Taiwanese Americans united by a love of music and Taiwan. FOSPA promotes cultural exchange and provides performance opportunities for young musicians through its New York Formosa Chorus (NYFC), which practices weekly on Thursday evenings at Union Church in Queens. Despite being recently founded at the time of posting, the chorus had performed in Queens, Long Island, Manhattan, New Jersey, and Connecticut, including a performance at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall for the Glory Star celebration. The chorus is conducted by Chiyi Chen, a faculty member in the music department of Princeton Seminary who studied conducting at Westminster College.
