The Huntsville Taiwanese American Association (HTAA) is a local chapter of the Taiwanese Association of America (全美台灣同鄉會), the national umbrella organization for Taiwanese American community associations in the United States. The chapter serves the Taiwanese American community in and around Huntsville, Alabama. Its Chinese name, 亨城 番薯味台灣同鄉會, reflects a playful local identity: the phrase 番薯味 (‘sweet potato flavored’) is a phonetic approximation of ‘Huntsville’ in Taiwanese, and also alludes to the sweet potato shape of Taiwan and its cultural significance.
