Identity Snapshot

  • English: LAPC Music Foundation
  • Chinese: 洛杉磯樂音音樂基金會
  • Era: Contemporary
  • Geography: Taiwanese American community
  • Core roles: Community organization (TAH directory)

LAPC Music Foundation is an arts and cultural organization based in Garden Grove, California, founded in September 2006 as an outgrowth of the 樂音合唱團 (Lèyīn Chorus). The foundation promotes diverse musical activities and gives back to the local community and overseas Chinese compatriots. It has participated in concerts organized by the Liu Gui Cultural Foundation, annual Hai Hua arts festivals, and joint Christmas concerts with mainstream community choral groups. A particular focus is introducing Chinese-language and Taiwanese folk music to broader audiences as a means of cultural exchange. The organization holds IRS tax-exempt status (EIN 06-1783949) and reports approximately $19,105 in annual income.

Role in the Community

  • The TAH directory record LAPC Music Foundation record documents the foundation in the 2017-era survey of Taiwanese American community organizations.
  • The foundation presented the Los Angeles Melody Chorus concert (洛杉磯心悅合唱團演唱會) in Baldwin Park, CA on 10/22/2016 (TAH record 86) — evidence of active concert programming beyond its own 樂音合唱團.
  • An earlier ensemble record, 洛杉磯樂音合唱團 / 2015/01 (TAH record 19), documents the chorus that preceded the 2006 foundation.
  • The foundation’s programming extended to other community choruses: TAH record 53 documents the Los Angeles Melody Chorus 洛杉磯心悅合唱團 itself (TAH record 53), the ensemble whose 10/22/2016 Baldwin Park concert the foundation presented.
