Silicon Valley Taiwanese American Association (北加州)
Identity Snapshot
- English: Silicon Valley Taiwanese American Association
- Chinese: 北加州
- Era: Contemporary
- Geography: Taiwanese American community
- Core roles: Community organization (TAH directory)
The Silicon Valley Taiwanese American Association (矽谷台灣同鄉會) is a regional chapter of the Taiwanese Association of America (TAA, 全美台灣同鄉會), the national umbrella organization serving Taiwanese American communities across the United States. The chapter serves the Silicon Valley area of California and is listed under the TAA’s Western region (美西).
Role in the Community
- TAH community record. The chapter’s own TAH directory entry is held in the story corpus as Silicon Valley Taiwanese American Association (SVTAA) 矽谷台灣同鄉會 (2014-10-12, band B bibliographic record); the canonical Chinese name 矽谷台灣同鄉會 is confirmed there — the frontmatter title’s “北加州” is the TAH directory’s region tag, not the org’s name.
- 2021 Pew identity statement. Four members signed the community response to the Pew Research report hiding Taiwanese identity — “We made it count. Now tell our stories.” (2021-05-01, band A community history) identifying with the chapter: Bi Huey Wu, Shaw Shieng Wen, Shaw Sujen, and TseHuang Hsueh (Response to Pew Research Reports Hiding Taiwanese Identity). A fifth signer, Siou-Ming Chuq, is listed in the same statement explicitly as “SVTAA member” and a sixth, Diana H Wu, as “individual from SVTAA” (Bi Huey Wu, Shaw Shieng Wen, Shaw Sujen and TseHuang Hsueh are labeled “Silicon Valley Taiwanese Association” — the record labels signers inconsistently)（Response to Pew Research Reports Hiding Taiwanese Identity）. This is the movement-record evidence of the chapter’s active membership in the 2020s.
- Corpus re-verify (deepen-x 09220400-12). Fresh ZH+EN scan of works/ + articles/ returned only the chapter’s own directory record, the works index, and the Pew statement above; the one new absorbable fact was signer Diana H Wu (“individual from SVTAA”), added above.
- Name-adjacent but distinct org. Do not conflate with the Silicon Valley Taiwanese American Industrial Technology Association (矽谷台美產業科技協會), a separate professional-tech association also recorded in the corpus (TAH directory entry, 2017-07-12).
