The Greater New York Area Taiwanese Christian Senior Fellowship is an interdenominational organization uniting elderly Taiwanese Christians from Taiwanese-language churches across the Greater New York and New Jersey area. It grew out of informal senior fellowship activities within individual congregations in the early 1970s, eventually being formally established in 1987 under the auspices of the Greater New York Taiwanese Church Fellowship, a consortium of twelve Taiwanese-language churches. The organization holds joint worship services, Bible study gatherings, outings, and social activities to nurture fellowship among senior members. It also works to help elderly members access social welfare benefits. At its founding assembly in July 1988, the group elected its first board of directors with Huang Wen-jia (黃文嘉) as the inaugural chairman.
Role in the Community
The senior-fellowship wave that produced this association began in the 1970s, when settled Taiwanese immigrants brought their parents to the U.S. and congregations organized elders’ gatherings; the parallel Bay Area case records the same pattern of church-based senior groups, formally launched in 1978 and later twinned with the Southern California association (350. 美國舊金山灣區台灣基督教會史料簡介). In Greater New York the informal groups were formalised in 1987 under the twelve-church 大紐約區台灣教會聯合會, with the first board — chaired by 黃文嘉 (Huang Wen-jia) — elected at the July 1988 founding assembly.
Three directory works in our corpus document the group directly:

- 4. Activities of 大紐約區台灣人基督徒長輩會 — joint worship, Bible study, outings and social activities

The association’s later history is recorded in the Taiwan Center memoir Our Journeys 27 — 紐約台灣會館:在困境中更新: the 長輩會 met every Friday at the 紐約台灣會館 alongside the parallel 長春會 and 松柏會 groups. On 2001-12-17, under board chairman 李汝城, the Taiwan Center established the 台灣會館鄉親俱樂部 (Taiwan Center Senior Citizens Club, later renamed Taiwanese American Senior Center), with 李鵬 as inaugural secretary-general; registration with New York State was filed by 李汝城, 尤欽德 and 蔡明峯. After the Center’s renovation re-opened in November 2002 the three senior groups moved back to the Center, and on 2003-01-14 the 長輩會 chairman 張俊雄 — together with 長春會 chairman 何錦華 and 松柏會 chairman 陳英隆 — agreed to dissolve and merge into the 大紐約區台灣老人聯合會, formalised under new president 賴弘典 on 2003-03-12 as the 台灣會館老人中心 (TASC); member rolls were compiled by 林炎誠 with roughly 300 registrants.
The 2003 chairmanship record (張俊雄) is a succession note, not a conflict: 黃文嘉 remains the founding-era (1988) chairman per the association’s own account.
Related senior-welfare work in New York continued through the 紐約台灣會館老人中心 ( 林炎誠).
The same senior-fellowship wave produced parallel bodies documented in our corpus, situating this association within a coast-to-coast movement. In Southern California, the 南加州台灣人長輩會 has its own directory works — 1. 南加州台灣人長輩會 台美式民俗成年禮 and 2. Activities of 南加州台灣人長輩會各式活動 — and its Los Angeles 台灣人長輩會公寓 hosted the 1988 TACL fundraising dinner for Representative Dixon (戴議員), organised by 64 同鄉發起人 with roughly 300 attendees (Our Journeys 253). In Northern California, the 北加州台灣長輩會 published the 《長輩的生活智慧》 anthology series, of which 08) and 12) are held in the vault; Bay Area 長輩會 groups also joined the 北加州臺灣同鄉組織聯合會 alongside 協志會 (Our Journeys 357).
