The Greater Kansas Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine Association is a community organization based in the Kansas City area dedicated to promoting Oriental medicine and raising health awareness among its members. The association holds events approximately twice per year, featuring lectures and demonstrations by practitioners of traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture. As of 2014, the organization had been active for over twenty years. A 2014 event at a member’s home featured Dr. Yang Li-Dian, a Taiwan-born doctor of traditional Chinese medicine, who lectured on foundational TCM concepts and demonstrated qigong exercises for attendees.

Role in the Community

  • The association’s own directory history (era 2014, active 20+ years at that point) is preserved by the TA Archives as record #6: 6. 大堪薩斯針灸及東方醫學學會. It is part of the Kansas City-area Taiwanese American community ecosystem alongside the Taiwan Association of Kansas City (its newsletter and Greater Kansas City chapter of the TAA).
  • No memoir or first-person corpus material beyond the TAH directory entry was found (re-grepped 2026-09-20 and 2026-09-22 slice 09211507-1: only its own directory record [[works/taiwaneseamericanhistory-org/gkca-acom|TAH directory #6]] and the works index match 大堪薩斯針灸); the 2014 lecture by Dr. Yang Li-Dian (楊立典) noted above comes from the same directory copy. Nothing further absorbable — no new facts added this pass. Re-verified 2026-09-23 (slice 09221000-32): fresh ZH+EN grep returns only the own directory record, the works index, and one taiwanjustice article that matches only on a GKCA substring inside its archive-digest hash — verified-saturated, SKIP-with-reason stands. Re-verified again 2026-09-24 (slice 09230900-12): same three hits, all already accounted for. Re-verified 2026-09-25 (slice 09240900-12): same hits, all accounted for — verified-saturated, SKIP.
