Role in the Community
Outside its Taiwan Center group-membership listing, the corpus records the council (commonly 外貿協會/貿協, TAITRA) as an actor in Taiwanese American community exchange programs:
- Per the Indianapolis chapter memoir Our Journeys 389, from 2004 to 2007 the council selected and sent Taiwanese eMBA (企業管理碩士班) students — 6 in 2004, 12 in 2005, 16 in 2006, 20 in 2007 — for internships at companies in Indianapolis. The program was locally coordinated by Prof. Shao-Ching Liu 劉少青 of Butler University, with students hosted by Taiwanese American host families to learn American business customs; it ended when Prof. Liu moved to Quinnipiac University.
Other 貿協/TAITRA string matches in the news corpus (e.g. 中美貿協 articles) refer to US–China trade talks, not this council, and were not absorbed. Re-verified 2026-09-25 (deepen-x slice 09231200-23): fresh grep adds only Our Journeys 159 劉照男, whose 貿協 hit is 服貿協議 (the Cross-Strait Service Trade Agreement that sparked 太陽花學運) — not this council — so no new facts absorbed. Re-verified again 2026-09-25 (slice -32) and 2026-10-01 (slice 09261000-24): the 2026 taiwanjustice.net hits are 經貿協議/自貿協議/服貿 strings in US–China and US–Taiwan trade-talk reporting — no reference to this council; corpus-saturated (re-verified again 2026-09-26, slice 09252123-25: same hit set, all 2026 article matches are 經貿協議/服貿/自貿協議 strings — nothing absorbable).
