Role in the Community

  • Founding (from community memoir material): in 1976, in the Los Angeles area, 許世楷、許千惠、郭清江、張綺石、鄭德和、王廷宜（泰和）and other Taiwan-human-rights-minded community members founded the 台灣人權及文化協會 (Taiwan Human Rights & Culture Association). Because the New York-area 台灣人權協會 (Formosan Association for Human Rights, grown out of 張丁蘭’s 台灣婦女維護人權委員會) had the same aims, the two groups agreed to cooperate on human-rights work under the FAHR umbrella. Source: 張丁蘭的故事 (2000), preserved in the TAHS story corpus as 14. 台灣人權文化協會 (2014).
  • The same founding account, in 張丁蘭’s own telling, is preserved in a second corpus record — 2014-12 (published 2014-12-21, English version available). That record also documents the 2014 officer slate of the 全美台灣人權協會 (FAHR) — 會長洪榮隆、副會長楊明昊、秘書長蔡靜煌、財務李賢群, with 理事包括王泰和 — i.e. 王廷宜（泰和）, one of this association’s 1976 LA-area founders, was still serving as an FAHR board member (理事) in 2014. Recorded as cross-membership between the two cooperating bodies, per the memoir’s umbrella agreement.
  • HOLD: naming conflict — this page and the Taiwan Center listing use 台灣人權文化協會; the 張丁蘭 memoir writes 台灣人權及文化協會. Recorded as-is, not merged.
  • Later relation: listed as a group member of the Taiwan Center Foundation of the Greater Los Angeles; related umbrella body: Formosan Association for Human Rights.
  • Founding member 王廷宜（泰和）has his own TAH bibliographic record in the corpus: 75. Ting Yee Wang 王廷宜 (2018-09-06, bibliographic only).
