Role in the Community

TAAA is an arts association in the Taiwanese American community of Southern California. Member memoirs describe it as a group with twice-yearly (spring and autumn) seasonal exhibitions (春秋二次季展) that encourage members’ continued practice — the physician/woodcarver 鄭炳全 records joining after four years of 木雕 study in his 2025 memoir (鄭炳全《旅美五十周年》, Taiwan Justice Net]).

Beyond the exhibition circuit, TAAA sat on the institutional side of the Los Angeles Taiwanese American community, not only its artistic side:

  • At the 大洛杉磯台灣會館 (Taiwan Center) 會員大會 of 2018-06-17 the association held one of the ten 團體董事 (group-director) seats on the newly elected 11th board, represented by 郭曉玗 — alongside 聖東同鄉會, 彰化同鄉會, 台灣婦女會, FAPA, 亞美社福, 台灣人醫師協會, 台美律師會 and 台美商會 (台美會訊 2018-06-27, via the 2020 Wayback capture). The page’s “Taiwan Center group member” status is therefore corroborated by a governance record, not only a directory listing.
  • In 2024 the association mounted a 夏季畫展 (summer painting exhibition) at the 洛僑中心 on 5/18–19, one of the exhibitions folded into that year’s 大洛杉磯台美人傳統週 (Taiwanese American Heritage Week) series (2024 傳統週 series listing); the same event surfaces as a headline in a 2025 category-page snapshot (台灣人文藝術 category page).
  • 鄭炳全’s memoir (旅美五十周年) additionally records that most of the community’s clubs 後繼無人 — few new-generation members joined. Whether that generalisation extends to TAAA is HOLD: the corpus has no TAAA membership continuity record.
  • Re-verified 2026-10-01 (deepen-x slice 09260900-16): fresh full-corpus ZH+EN grep (台美藝術協會 / Taiwanese American Arts Association / TAAA) over works/ + articles/ returned the four TAHS records already linked, the works index, and four article records new to this page — absorbed above. The 傳統週 listing is archived twice (…20240302033647_root_589391185e9bd8c3, …20240429065124_root_55dbc6c8f41b2ad0) under different taiwanjustice.net post ids (p=222913 / p=383583), so they are two captures of overlapping event listings, not one duplicated record.

Timeline

  • 2018-06-17 — 台美藝術協會 (郭曉玗) seated as a 團體董事 of the Taiwan Center’s 11th board of directors at its 會員大會 (台美會訊 2018-06-27)

  • 2024-05-18/19 — summer painting exhibition at 洛僑中心, part of 2024 台美人傳統週 (2024 傳統週 series listing)

  • Founding year: the 2019 records celebrate a 25th anniversary, implying a mid-1990s founding; HOLD: no direct founding record in the local corpus, so no date entered.

  • Re-verified 2026-09-24 (deepen-x slice 09230317-27): fresh grep (台美藝術協會 / Taiwanese American Arts Association) returns only the four TAHS records linked above, the works index, and the 鄭炳全 memoir already cited — verified-saturated, no new material.

  • Re-verified 2026-09-25 (deepen-x slice 09240317-32): fresh grep returns the same five records linked above plus the works index — SKIP, no new material.

  • Re-verified 2026-09-25 (deepen-x slice 09250800-32): fresh grep (台美藝術協會 / Taiwanese American Arts Association) returns the same four TAHS records linked above, the works index, and the 鄭炳全 memoir — SKIP, verified saturated.

  • Re-verified 2026-10-02 (deepen-x slice 09260900-16, CWD sweep): fixed-pattern ZH+EN grep (台美藝術協會|Taiwanese American Arts Association|TAAA) over works/ + articles/ re-run confirms saturation. One additional source located for the same 2024-05-18/19 洛僑中心 exhibit: 2024 傳統週 系列活動 (Taiwan Justice Net, 2025-06-17) — a 2025 retrospective of the 2024 Heritage-Week series, so it corroborates the 5/18–19 exhibition rather than adding a new event. No new material; verified-saturated.
