The Taiwanese American Association Milwaukee (TAAM, 密爾瓦基台灣同鄉會) is a regional chapter of the Taiwanese Association of America (TAA, 全美台灣同鄉會), the national umbrella organization for Taiwanese American community associations. The chapter serves the Taiwanese American community in the Milwaukee, Wisconsin area.
Role in the Community
- The chapter’s own corpus record is TAA 全美台灣同鄉會密爾瓦基市分會 (published 2015-11-22, band B — bibliographic record; full text stays in the vault). Exact founding date of the chapter is not in the corpus — HOLD: no corpus-dated origin to merge with the directory entry.
- Earlier Milwaukee-area movement roots are preserved in [[works/taiwaneseamericanhistory-org/ourjourneys81|Our Journeys #81]] / [[works/taiwaneseamericanhistory-org/ourjourneys81-eng|Our Journeys #81 (EN)]]: after the UW–Madison 台灣同鄉會 split along political lines, 利騰俊、黃啟明、田弘茂 founded a political study group with Douglas Mendel (author of The Politics of Formosan Nationalism) as honorary member. NOTE: this documents the 1960s–70s student generation, not a dated institutional predecessor of TAAM — kept separate, not merged.
- Community cultural presence: Arvin Chen’s Au Revoir Taipei at Milwaukee Film Fest.
- Corpus re-grep 2026-09-21 (slice 09201500-23): the only further Milwaukee hits in content/articles are generic C-band news mentioning the city (佛洛伊德抗議、威州購物中心槍擊案、鴻海威州面板廠違約案、共和黨黨綱) — no TAAM chapter activity, nothing absorbable. Verified saturated.
- Disambiguation: TAAMN / 明州台灣同鄉會 (newsletter 1990–2009, World Festivals photo album) is the Minnesota association — a different chapter, not this one.
