Taiwanese American Professionals Los Angeles (TAP-LA) is the founding chapter of Taiwanese American Professionals (TAP), established in 1991 as the first TAP chapter under the Taiwanese American Citizens League (TACL). TAP-LA operates as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit through TACL and is run entirely by volunteers. The chapter serves the greater Los Angeles area, offering programming centered on leadership, identity, networking, and community. TAP-LA also runs ConneXt, a mentorship and community program connecting Taiwanese American professionals across generations.
Role in the Community
TAP-LA anchors the TAP (台美菁英協會) network documented in the TAH story corpus:
- Parent record: 1. Taiwanese American Professionals (TAP) 台美菁英協會 (published 2014-10-12).
- Sibling chapters in the corpus: 3.
- As the 1991 founding chapter under TACL, TAP-LA predates every corpus-documented chapter; the corpus records the network’s spread across U.S. metros and its youth-facing scholarship programming in Seattle.
- Chapter’s own corpus record: a TAH-published chapter newsletter record, 2017-08-15 — Los Angeles Chapter (台美菁英協會洛杉磯分會).
- Re-pass 2026-09-21 (deepen-x slice 09210400-3): corpus grep adds the Orange County sibling’s own page — TAP Orange County Chapter 台美菁英協會橙縣分會 — alongside the previously linked activities record; no other new chapter material for LA itself.
- Corpus re-pass 2026-09-22 (deepen-x slice 09212352-10): fresh grep adds the San Francisco chapter’s own scholarship record above (previously unlinked sibling chapter); no new material about the LA chapter itself.
- 2021: 洛杉磯台美菁英協會 is listed as a co-initiating organization (共同發起單位) of the Southern California 僑界 joint statement supporting Taiwan’s participation in the WHO/WHA — the chapter’s earliest community-coalition record in our corpus: 2021年南加州僑界支持台灣參與WHA聯合聲明
- Chapter’s own story-corpus record: the LA chapter’s dedicated page in the TAP series — TAP 台美菁英協會洛杉磯分會 (published 2014-10-12), sibling to the Austin/Boston/D.C. chapter records already linked.
- Community service programming, documented in the movement press: TAP-LA co-organised a Nov 2010 Santa Ana food-pantry drive with Cool Water Ministries / Second Harvest OC Food Bank (mobile pantry serving up to 200 families, 5,000–15,000 lbs of goods per truck: Join TAP in LA for a Community Service Event, 2010-11) and joined Taiwanese United Fund and other TA orgs for the 2012 LA River cleanup with Friends of Los Angeles River as part of Taiwanese American Heritage Week — the 2012 notice names officer-at-large Julie Chao as TAP-LA contact (Join TA Professionals in LA for Community Service River Clean Up, 2012-04).
- Corpus re-pass 2026-09-23 (deepen-x slice 09221000-8): fresh ZH+EN grep surfaced the two previously unlinked taiwaneseamerican.org service-event notices above plus the LA chapter’s own TAP-series record; absorbed. Nothing further for the LA chapter itself.
