TASTA is a civil and non-profit organization founded in May 2002 by Taiwanese American professionals in the Greater Washington, D.C. area. Its primary focus is promoting cooperation between Americans and the people of Taiwan in science, technology, and industry through education, research, communication, and networking activities. Members include professionals from high-tech companies, entrepreneurial ventures, government and defense research labs, and universities, most holding advanced degrees in science and engineering. TASTA is also affiliated with the U.S.-Taiwan Business Council.

Role in the Community

  • Founded May 2002 by Taiwanese American professionals in the Greater Washington, D.C. area; affiliated with the U.S.-Taiwan Business Council.

  • 2018-03-06 — Recorded in the TAH organization directory: TAH directory record: TASTA 華府台灣產業科技協會 (band B; source record for this page).

  • 2020-09-30 — TASTA joined the Greater Washington joint statement by 15 Taiwanese American groups supporting Taiwan’s participation in the UN, alongside FAPA 華府/馬里蘭分會, 華府台灣同鄉會, 華府台灣信用合作社, 台灣人青少年基金會 and others (TJJ 大華府僑團聯合聲明, 2020-09-30).

  • Corpus re-grep 2026-09-23 (slice 09221300-28): fresh grep TASTA/華府台灣產業科技協會 of works+articles returns only the directory record, the works index, and the 2020 joint statement above — no further facts absorbed.

  • 2026-09-30 corpus re-grep (slice 09260800-31): content-wide grep (whole content/, not only works+articles) adds two membership records beyond the set already on this page: Prof. Bay-Mao (Bill) Wu — TASTA Washington D.C. chapter President, 2013 (TAA-GWC President 1994–95; FAPA Board 2004; also a TAA Greater Washington President); Dr. Minze Chien — TASTA President 2004–2006, alongside FAPA DC Chapter President (1998–99, 2013–17), TAA-GWC President (2018), and Taiwanese American Community Scholarship Awards / Greater Washington D.C. Coordinator (2007–16). TASTA’s D.C.-area leadership thus overlaps with TAA-GWC and FAPA DC leadership in the same cohort.

  • Note: Tufts student club TAST hits in grep are TASTA-unrelated (the organization page Taiwanese Association of Students at Tufts already records the distinction) — not absorbed here.
