Taiwanese Association of America Colorado (科羅拉多)

Identity Snapshot

  • English: Taiwanese Association of America Colorado
  • Chinese: 科羅拉多
  • Era: Contemporary
  • Geography: Taiwanese American community
  • Core roles: Community organization (TAH directory)

The Taiwanese Association of America Colorado (TAA-CO, 科羅拉多 台灣同鄉會) is the Colorado chapter of the Taiwanese Association of America (TAA, 全美台灣同鄉會), the national umbrella organization serving Taiwanese American communities across the United States. The chapter serves Taiwanese Americans in Colorado, with its primary base in the Denver metropolitan area.

Role in the Community

  • Chapter records exist in the TAH corpus: directory entries for the chapter in 2015 and a 1980 Denver chapter record, plus a chapter newsletter record from 2019 — TAA Colorado (2015 directory entry), Colorado Chapter Denver in 1980, Colorado Chapter newsletter (2019).

  • Colorado’s earliest role in the movement predates the chapter itself: Cary S. Huang and others began publishing the movement journal 五月花 (May Flower) in 1969 in Ft. Collins, Colorado; it later became the official TAA journal (1973–1980) — Our Journeys (EN), May Flower history.

  • Colorado is named in the 台灣政論 North America regional representative roster (issue 5, 1975.12): 科羅拉多地區代表 蕭廣志 (the publication misprinted him as 蕭應志), who later became head of 科州台灣之音 — Our Journeys 357, notes.

  • Colorado appears as a listener reach-area for the Bay Area 「台灣之音」 phone-news line (from 1978), showing Colorado members’ tie into the island tangwai news network — Our Journeys 37.

  • A chapter-authored institutional history exists in the corpus (2017-10-04, band B): 科州台灣同鄉會簡介與感言 — bibliographic record only in the vault; full text stays in the source archive.

  • Mutual-aid role in the present day: in 2024 the chapter, together with 科羅拉多台灣人緊急救助會, ran the GoFundMe relief drive (target US$250k, exceeded at US$326,200 by 2024-06-08) for Air Force Academy cadet 徐皓明 after his mother and grandmother were critically injured in a car accident near Colorado Springs, with 駐丹佛辦事處長黃世昌 also assisting — TJJ report via 大洛杉磯台灣會館, 2024-06-07, 中央社記者 report, TJJ follow-up, 2025-03-24, TJJ 中央社 report, 2025-08-15.

  • Parallel Colorado-Taiwanese civic infrastructure: a FAPA 台灣人公共事務會 Colorado chapter record exists alongside the TAA chapter — FAPA 克羅拉多分會 (2015 directory entry).

  • Regional-plains context: 科羅拉多 is one of the six plains states covered by the 平原區台灣人秋令会 (Plains Taiwanese Camp Meeting, founded 1985 in Manhattan, Kansas over 1983–85 organizing by 范良正, 楊景文, 刁明華, 黃金來, 徐福棟, 林啓東); a 1996 letter in the corpus signed 「TAA/Colorado Wu 錫圭」 recalls the camp meeting’s founding theme 「大家來,來做堆」 and its deliberate break from Chinese-American organizations — [[works/taiwaneseamericanhistory-org/ourjourneys296|Our Journeys #296]].

  • Corpus re-check (TAA/Colorado / 科州台灣同鄉會 / 科羅拉多, works+articles, slice-09220800-3 pass 2026-09-22): fresh grep returns only records already linked above (directory entries, 1980 Denver record, 2019 newsletter, chapter history, Our Journeys 296, FAPA Colorado); the extra match [[works/taiwaneseamericanhistory-org/ourjourneys106|Our Journeys #106]] is a personal mention of 吳東山 (Colorado State Univ. PhD, tangwai activist barred from returning to Taiwan), not a chapter fact — no new absorbable material; verify-saturated.
