Role in the Community
The TAH story corpus holds primary records of Detroit-area Taiwanese community activity that document the chapter’s milieu:
-
Taiwan Monitor 台風眼 — community newspaper published jointly by the TAA Ann Arbor, Detroit, and Lansing chapters: the chapter’s own press organ, corroborating TAGD as an active 美中西 chapter ([[works/taiwaneseamericanhistory-org/ourjourneys76-eng|Our Journeys #76]] also lists the Ann Arbor/Detroit/East Lansing chapter newsletter).
-
1981 — in the wake of the 陳文成 case, Detroit (with Pittsburgh, Ann Arbor, Lansing) formed the 底特律台灣人人權會 initiative that opened public fundraising for the 陳文成紀念基金會; the second-drive donors and memorial-service workers included Detroit-area names Bernie Huang, Chao-fang Chuang, I-hsiung Lin, Kuo-nan Hsu, Chin-ti Lin, Hui-hui Huang, and Chang-Jang Hsieh ([[works/taiwaneseamericanhistory-org/ourjourneys321-eng|Our Journeys #321 (ENG)]])。

Corpus grep (2026-09-24, slice 09230500-7): SKIP-with-reason — hit set is exactly the works already wikilinked above (detroit-chapter-activity, ourjourneys33, ourjourneys321-eng, enews record); the only additional hit, The Taiwanese American Story — a history in progress, mentions Detroit only among general settlement patterns, no chapter-specific facts.
-
Corpus re-grep 2026-09-25 (slice 09240500-2): SKIP-new-facts — ZH+EN re-grep returns the same saturated hit set; the only non-duplicate hit (江蓋世台語演講 TJJ 2021) matched on the archive digest string ‘3TAGD…’, not a real TAGD mention — no new absorbable material.
