Identity Snapshot
- English: Taiwanese Association of Greater Kansas City TAKC

- Geography: Taiwanese American community
- Core roles: Community organization (TAH directory)
The Taiwanese Association of Greater Kansas City (TAKC), also known in Chinese as 大堪薩斯 台灣同鄉會, is a regional chapter of the Taiwanese Association of America (TAA). It serves the Taiwanese American community in the greater Kansas City metropolitan area, which spans both Kansas and Missouri. TAKC is listed under the TAA Mid-West regional grouping (美中西) on the national TAA directory.
Role in the Community
-
Active chapter documented across the TAH story corpus: directory entry 2015-12, chapter newsletter 2019-09, and a past presidents’ commemorative volume: 李賜隆 楊理典.
-
Community activity recorded in the corpus includes sports as a gathering vehicle: badminton tournament hosted by TAKC and 37. 堪薩斯全州台灣同鄉壘球錦標賽; regional women’s community life: 張錫清.
-
Name note: corpus titles use both “Taiwanese Association of Kansas City” and “Greater Kansas City (TAKC)” for the same chapter. HOLD: separate body — the “堪薩斯州” branch in the 1990 census campaign memoir 253 (National TACL chapters) is a TACL chapter, not TAKC itself.
-
Corpus re-grep (大堪薩斯 / Kansas City / TAKC, works+articles, 2026-09-20 slice-13 pass): hit set unchanged — the directory, newsletter, 1994 presidents volume, sports records, and ourjourneys253 already linked above; one additional hit 1995 matches on 堪薩斯 geography only (Fort Hays alumni honor, not a TAKC activity) — not absorbed.
-
Newly absorbed (deepen-x slice-09201400-15, 2026-09-21): further sports-as-community records — 2015-07 and a chapter running team at a public memorial event, 2018-05; plus the chapter’s own early-90s print record 636. TAIWANESE ASSOCIATION of GREATER KANSAS CITY 1994 雜誌.
-
Band-A memoir surface: 2017-06 carries TAKC byline endorsements in the Plains Area autumn-gathering roster — Paul Lin 林年松 and Min Kao 高民環 sign as 「Taiwanese Association of Greater Kansas City」 in support of 推動民主制憲／國家獨立 — showing chapter-level political engagement alongside social programming.
-
Corpus re-grep (大堪薩斯 / Kansas City / TAKC, works+articles, slice-09211400-2 pass 2026-09-22): hit set unchanged; one new match 2014 — a same-geography professional association sharing the 大堪薩斯 prefix, NOT the TAKC chapter. Not absorbed; noted to prevent future conflation.
-
Newly absorbed (deepen-x slice-09220800-2, 2026-09-22): the chapter’s own founding history — 2017-10 is a chapter-authored institutional brief, the key primary source for TAKC’s origins; plus two more community-presence records: 堪薩斯同鄉 Team Taiwan in the Kansas City Track Club long-distance relay 2002-03, and participation framed in the multi-ethnic public arena 2018.
