Role in the Community
- 2015-12-01 — the club is recorded in the TAH story corpus as directory entry #34 (published 2015-12-01): [[works/taiwaneseamericanhistory-org/texas-college-station-taiwan-study-club|TAH record #34 — 德州卡城台灣研究社]]; the club’s own directory page appears separately in the corpus: Texas College Station Taiwan Study Club (TAH directory page).
- 2017 — the club organized a 228 commemorative event (228週年紀年活動) in Texas, documented in the corpus: 德州卡城台灣研究社舉辦 228週年紀年活動. This memorial activism complements the study-session mission recorded in the TAH directory.
- Founder Professor 黃界清 (Je-Chin Han) is documented independently in the corpus: TAH encyclopedia record [[works/taiwaneseamericanhistory-org/whos-who-604-je-chin-han|#604 Prof. Je-Chin Han 黃界清教授]], the 2020 ASME Honorary Member Award record [[works/taiwaneseamericanhistory-org/award-77|#77 (2020)]], and as 召集人 of the NATPA 廖述宗教授紀念獎委員會 in the 2015 award announcement 2015-04 — confirming the club’s founder as an active figure in the Taiwanese American academic community.
- The College Station base itself has deep movement roots: the corpus records a TAA 全美台灣同鄉會卡城分會 chapter TAA 卡城分會 (2015-12-21), and TAA founding history lists College Station (會長 廖大林 Ta-lin Liao) among the 28 founding chapters TAA founding memoir 全美會歷史. The study club emerged in a town with a documented Taiwanese community since TAA’s founding era.
- The TAA founding memoir names further Texas A&M-linked movement figures in College Station: 郭正光博士 (台大農工系 → 德州農工大學食品營養博士, NASA 詹森太空中心), former 農工大學同學會會長 and 1987 卡城同鄉會會長, blacklisted by the KMT for supporting the Taiwan independence movement [[works/taiwaneseamericanhistory-org/ourjourneys106|Our Journeys #106]].
- The founder’s movement lineage predates the club: the Chen Wen-chen commemoration memoir identifies Chieh-ching Huang (黃界清) as author of “Remembering My Good Friend Chen Wen-Chen,” writing under the real name behind the pseudonym “Mr. N,” a former University of Michigan colleague of Chen Wen-chen then teaching at Texas A&M 321. 由陳文成紀念基金會的創立談起 (EN) — placing the club’s founder inside the 1970s movement before the club’s founding era.
