Anna Wang (王涵)
Story
When the U.S. Consulate in Nagoya named Anna Wang (王涵) as its Principal Officer in July 2024, the 台美史料中心 (TA Archives) noted the milestone twice over: she was the first woman to lead that consulate in its history, and her parents were both from Taiwan.
Wang had spent four years at the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) — a posting that gave her direct experience with the island she came from — before moving to Washington to serve as Political Unit Chief in the Office of Pakistan Affairs at the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs. The TA Archives story corpus carried her appointment as story #909, 「曾任AIT官員 台裔王涵就任美國駐名古屋首席領事」, and the Center’s September 2024 newsletter brought the news to the LA community reading list.

Disambiguation
- Not the 王涵 who is a USC international student from China (2023 農曆新年集會 report, taiwanjustice.net archive) — different person, no relation asserted.
- Not 自由時報 reporter 王涵平 — name-prefix collision only.
- Not the Anna Wang profiled as a second-year nursing major at the University of Virginia in the STEP Taiwan program record (2019-04-28) — same-name student profile in STEP Taiwan: The Taiwanese American Experience; the only Anna Wang in that record, so no fact from it belongs under From the record. Gaps / NEED YOU
- Education, birthplace, and full Foreign Service posting history are unknown; a State Department/consulate biography or a first-person interview would fill the arc.
- Whether she has further Taiwanese-American community affiliations (church, associations) is unrecorded.
