Role in the Community

Per the church’s own history in the TAHS Our Journeys corpus ( 台福傳播中心, 2016):

  • 1975-10-01 — Installed as senior pastor (主任牧師) of 台語福音教會 (Evangelical Formosan Church, Los Angeles), succeeding 高集樂 (Samuel Kau), who had returned to Taiwan to teach. The English account in the same record states: “In 1975 Pastor Felix Liu was installed as the senior pastor. He has continued to serve in this position to this present date.”
  • Under his leadership the church grew through four migrations: El Sereno (1973) → Highland Park (1977) → El Monte (爱滿地, 1996 — a 3.8-acre former warehouse site). The church multiplied daughter congregations — with the founding memoir’s own dates (ourjourneys257 ZH text): 東安 1979-03, 南灣 1980-09, 聖谷 1982-03, 柑縣 1982-09, 聖安 1985-09, 聖喜 1988 (co-planted with 柑縣), 聖達 1988 (supported by 東安), the English ministry Harvest San Gabriel Valley planted 1997-04, and — completing the planting line in the same record — 愛鄰教會, planted by 聖達 in 2000-04 — and joined the 台語福音教會總會 formed 1982-10.
