許信良 is a central figure of the overseas Taiwanese democracy movement who, per 陳昭南’s memoir, came from Taiwan to the United States after the 美麗島事件 and co-founded the Los Angeles 美國美麗島週報社 (Formosa Weekly Report) circle of 「職業革命家」.
