Role in the Community

  • Southern California (南加州) Taiwanese community leader; per 許永華’s memoir, he had been back in Taiwan for about three years as at the 2016-09-21 writing (i.e. returned c. 2013) and was then hosting a program on 客家電台 devoted to Hakka cultural work ( 2016-09).
  • After assisting a legislative-yuan election campaign in Taiwan, he repeatedly urged 許永華 to organize and write the history of the Taiwan-student independence movement in the US since the 1960s, insisting the record be compiled “while people still remember” — an early community push that fed into the TAH oral-history project (許永華’s record).
  • His own TAH encyclopedia profile: 2016-05.
  • HOLD: the corpus mention in the 鄭紀昭牧師 record (2105) concerns Rev. J. C. Cheng (鄭紀昭), a different person with similar initials — do not conflate.
  • Corrected 2026-10-01 (deepen-x slice 09261100-10): the 許永華 memoir says 「南加州陳進財同鄉,返台服務已有三年,目前在台灣主持『客家電台』節目」 — i.e. as of the 2016-09-21 record he had already been back in Taiwan for about three years (so the return predates 2016, c. 2013). The earlier wording here (“he returned to Taiwan to serve for about three years”) could be read as a post-2016 move and has been tightened. No date is asserted beyond the memoir’s own relative clause.
  • 許永華 records that he pressed the matter on 許永華 repeatedly — first raised in Taiwan the previous year, then again on a return visit to the US, in person and by phone — and specifically because he considered 許永華 someone who “會曉寫文章”. 許永華 at first demurred (feeling unsuited to “白頭宮女話當年” retrospective work), which makes Chen’s persistence the documented catalyst, not merely an early suggestion.
  • 2026-10-01 corpus re-check: full grep of works/ + articles/ for 陳進財 / J. C. Chen returns only 許永華’s memoir ourjourneys250, his own TAH entry whoswho1000, and the J. C. Cheng (鄭紀昭) record already flagged above — all already cited. No further corpus facts to absorb; this pass corrected wording rather than adding biography.
  • Re-verify (2026-09-25, deepen-x slice 09250500-24): fresh grep returns only 許永華’s memoir and the J. C. Cheng disambiguation record — both already cited; saturated, nothing new absorbable.
