Role in the Community
- Spearheaded the USC Taiwanese American Digital Archive, a community archive hosted by USC Special Collections and Archives and the East Asian Library to collect Taiwanese American history “before it is lost”; announced with TaiwaneseAmerican.org’s support: Taiwanese American Digital Archive.
- The initiative began as her 2015–2016 documentation-and-outreach strategy as USC “Los Angeles as Subject” Resident Archivist, under USC University Librarian and East Asian Library Head Kenneth Klein; her survey of existing collections found Taiwanese American records largely overlooked, with a large gap in the historical record for Los Angeles and the nation — USC positioned to capture it.
- A second-generation Taiwanese American, described in the community announcement as “passionate about community archives and history.”
- TAH Who’s Who record: [[works/taiwaneseamericanhistory-org/who837-joanna-chen-cham|TAH #837]] (2016-02).
- Re-grepped 2026-09-23 (slice 09221500-25): corpus hits remain only #837 and the USC Taiwanese American Digital Archive announcement already absorbed above — verified-saturated.
