Per Lin Heng-cheh’s (林衡哲) memoir of the Southern California Taiwanese United Fund (TUF), around 1986 TUF’s founding act in SoCal — organized under 許丕龍 — was a concert to raise a Juilliard scholarship for violinist Linda Wang and her sister (Linda Wang姊妹) after their father’s sudden death left them facing having to drop out; the TUF scholarship carried them through. Linda later won the Geneva International Violin Competition while studying at USC (HOLD: TAH profile education lists 南加大 B.S. without dates; memoir ties the Geneva win to her USC years) (301. 南加州臺灣人聯合基金會的誔生、回顧與展望（1986-1996）／林衡哲).
