Role in the Community

  • 2007-01-21 — Installed as the third pastor of the New Jersey Taiwanese-American Fellowship Presbyterian Church (TAFPC 台美團契長老教會), succeeding founding-era pastor Rev. Ben M. C. Hsieh (謝敏川牧師), who retired in 2005 after 19 years at the church and 45 years of ministry and was named honorary pastor (2014). The church had moved to New Brunswick Presbyterian Church in 2002 amid growth. HOLD: his Employment record also lists TAFPC (纽澤西台美團契長老教會) — this run’s fresh grep shows “New Jersey” in the memoir body but only “台美團契” in the page’s existing text; no edition in either source can confirm the English church name, so the original wording was kept rather than auto-merged.
  • Guest preacher at Sheng’en Presbyterian Church (聖恩長老敎會) in its early days, which was planted for unchurched Taiwanese compatriots “without a church” (無教會的同胞) with an informal (非正式) program; Rev. Tong is named among the invited itinerant preachers who supported the small church alongside 謝敏川, 蔡其芳 (蔡清波), 王成章, 陳尚仁, 康進順, 那赫莫, 廖學銘, 洪健棣, 蔡慈倫, 胡志疆 and 鄭連德 (2014).
  • TAH Who’s Who record: his own directory profile entered the TAH corpus archive on 2017-06-28 as 1698. Rev. C. L. Tong 董俊蘭牧師 (bibliographic record; full text in the vault).
