  • Seventh President of the Taiwanese American Federation of Northern California (TAFNC, 北加州台灣同鄉聯合會), from the East Bay Taiwanese Association. He took office around the time of the Formosa Incident and the Lin Family Massacre, when the KMT blacklist made the presidency dangerous; his guarantee that the East Bay Association would keep supplying presidents steadied the Federation. Over those “most difficult five years” four consecutive TAFNC Presidents came from the East Bay Association — 陳榮芳, Tsun-liang Chang (張傳良), Shih-ming Huang (黃世明) and I-ren Kan (簡義仁) — per the federation’s own history in Our Journeys 38 (TAFNC, English).
  • Author of the blacklist memoir 2017 (band A): arrested by the 警備總部 in 1976, forced to act as a 警总 agent inside the 臺獨聯盟, defected on arrival in the US and won political asylum; as a blacklisted person he attempted a fishing-boat return to Taiwan in autumn 1992 and, with 王康陸, reached the 臺灣獨立聯盟臺灣本部 founding convention in Taipei on 1992-10-18.
