- 1986-10-01 — NATPA 克城分會成立: during a visit by 林宗光, 周烒明, 洪明勳 and 黃昭淵 founded the Cleveland chapter of the North American Taiwanese Professors’ Association at 周烒明’s home; 15 professors attended, 5 of them doctors ( 周烒明；另見英文版 ENG).
- 1989-12 — 觀選團: joined the NATPA election-observation delegation (with 陳文彥, 廖述宗, 張旭成) for Taiwan’s 立委/縣市長/省議員 elections; the delegation issued a statement criticizing KMT abuse of public power, non-neutral military, money politics and PRC interference ( 林靜竹).
