Corpus memoirs place Chou inside the Rochester Taiwanese community during her Eastman years. In the 羅徹斯特臺灣同鄉會愛鄉合唱團 concert program, she is listed as 伴奏 (accompanist, 代) for 愛鄉合唱團 — a choir formed in 1993 by Taiwanese expatriates devoted to 台灣歌, which rehearsed biweekly, performed at 羅徹斯特臺灣同鄉會 events and in Toronto, Cornell, and Rochester sister-city celebrations, and in that year shared the stage with the Rochester Chamber Orchestra.
