Role in the Community

Victor Hung is active in the Los Angeles Taiwanese American community both as president of the American Six Kuen Brotherhood Association (美國六桂宗親會) and as a classical guitarist. In June 2024, as Six Kuen president, he hosted the photography exhibition 「台灣攝影經典展—龍躍台南400年」 at the Korean Cultural Center Los Angeles as part of the 2024 Greater Los Angeles Taiwanese American Heritage Week series (per the Taiwan Justice record of the festival). His own guitar recordings are held in the TAH encyclopedia: a 2003 guitar introduction CD and the 2003 music CD 「台北捷運狂想曲」. His association lineage runs deeper than his presidency: the 美國六桂文教基金會 published the 台灣歌樂經典系列展 music CD in 2004 (541. 台灣歌樂經典系列展 2004) and staged the 台灣歌樂經典系列展 expositions in El Monte across 2010–2017 (concerts25. Taiwanese Music Exposition) — records of the Six Kuen organization, not of Hung personally. Under his presidency the association kept a steady Heritage-Week presence: the 六桂宗親會 online photography exhibition on 2021-05-31 during the pandemic-year Heritage Week (TJJ, 2021傳統週系列活動) and the 台灣攝影經典系列展 at the 洛杉磯華僑文教中心 on 2025-05-31 (TJJ, 2025傳統週).

Timeline

  • 2003 — released guitar music CDs (吉他介紹片; 台北捷運狂想曲), archived in the TAH encyclopedia
  • 2014 — profiled in the TAH encyclopedia (60. Victor Hung 洪家棟) and in 李品高’s essay 「吉他家洪家棟」
  • 2022-05-14~15 — as 美國六桂宗親會 president, hosted 「2022大洛杉磯台美人傳統週系列活動——美國加州登山越野攝影展」 at the 洛杉磯華僑文教中心; the show was his own photography — five years of California mountain/desert/rock scenery and Milky Way camping shots — shared with hikers and 鄉親 (TJJ, 2022登山越野攝影展)
  • 2024-06 — as 美國六桂宗親會 president, hosted 台灣攝影經典展—龍躍台南400年 at the LA Korean Cultural Center during Taiwanese American Heritage Week (corroborated twice: 6月1-2日, 洛僑中心 — TJJ, 2024傳統週系列活動 and TJJ, 2024傳統週預告)
  • 2021-05-31 — 六桂宗親會 online photography exhibition held as part of the 2021 大洛杉磯台美人傳統週 series (pandemic-year online programming; association-level event, Hung as president — TJJ, 2021傳統週系列活動; reposted TJJ, 2025重刊). Date corrected 2026-10-11: both TJJ announcements place the 六桂 online photo exhibition on 5月31日; the earlier 06-05 entry conflated the date with the 後勁：王建明 film screening on 6月5日 in the same 2021 series.
  • 2025-05-31 — 美國六桂宗親會 台灣攝影經典系列展 at the 洛杉磯華僑文教中心, one of two cultural events that day in the 2025 Heritage Week series (TJJ, 2025傳統週)
  • 2004-05 / 2010–2017 — 美國六桂文教基金會 (Six Kuen lineage organization) issued the 台灣歌樂經典系列展 music CD (541. 2004 music CD) and ran the 台灣歌樂經典系列展 expositions in El Monte (2010/2011/2012/2017 — concerts25); organizational context, not Hung’s own works
