Role in the Community

  • 1914 — 李景盛（台灣第一代基督徒、第一位思想家與貿易商李春生長子）籌辦新高銀行；隔年（1915）李延禧自美國紐約哥倫比亞大學取得經濟學碩士後返台，加入新高銀行團隊。

  • 1915-12-18 — 新高銀行在台北市大稻埕迪化街一段63號（霞海城隍廟旁，今第一商業銀行現址）正式成立。李延禧是台灣第一位留美學經濟歸國的學人；新高銀行延攬大稻埕紳商參與，客戶大半是各地茶商，以茶葉融資為主要業務，取代舊式茶莊，被視為台灣民間企業現代化的起點之一。

  • 1919 — 參與創設大成火災海上保險公司（見下方 tah-tables）。

  • 1923-07 — 新高銀行因一戰後不景氣長期虧損，被迫與嘉義銀行一起合併入日本官方的「台灣商工銀行」，改為「台灣商工銀行大稻埕分店」，職員遣散。李延禧隨後移居日本，成為旅日台灣人的精神領袖。
