North America Taiwanese Women’s Association – Detroit Chapter is a local chapter of the North America Taiwanese Women’s Association (NATWA), serving the Detroit area.
Role in the Community
The Detroit Chapter is one of the regional chapters documented in TAH’s NATWA corpus, alongside the Greater San Diego Chapter, Southwest Washington Chapter, Kansas Chapter, Arizona Chapter, St. Louis Chapter and others under NATWA headquarters. Chapter-level activity in the Detroit area appears in the Our Journeys / community-records sweep, e.g. Detroit-area Taiwanese community organizing documented in Taiwanese Association of America – Detroit Chapter activity and Taiwanese Chambers of Commerce of Greater Detroit. NATWA-wide organizing is recorded in 663. 北美洲台灣婦女會聯誼通訊 第七期 (1992-06).
Chapter records in the TAH corpus: the chapter itself is documented in NATWA 北美洲台灣婦女會底特律分會 (2015-12-28). Its community-facing activity centers on Taiwanese food fairs — 底特律婦女會2014年台灣美食小吃盛會 (2014-11-24), 台灣小吃會 by NATWA-Detroit in Royal Oak, MI (11/12/2016), and 台灣美食小吃點心擔 by NATWA Detroit(車城) (2016-12-02). Officer history appears in the memoir 33. 一家人做伙來打拼 (張炎憲, 2014-09): 月英 (of the 張伯寬 family) served as 底特律台灣同鄉會副會長 in 1997, then as 底特律婦女會會長 from 1999 and as 北美洲台灣婦女會 secretary from 2002, handling annual-convention registration — her Detroit-area organizing spanned the men’s hometown association (TAA Detroit) before she led the women’s chapter.
HOLD: chapter founding date unknown; 1999 底特律婦女會 vs later NATWA-Detroit naming not auto-reconciled.
Corpus re-check 2026-09-25 (slice 09240600-2): fresh ZH+EN grep (底特律婦女會 / NATWA Detroit / 北美洲台灣婦女會) returned only records already linked above (ourjourneys33, important2016-17, photo-albums-activities-24, natwa-detroit-chapter, 聯誼通訊 663/679, columns17, ourjourneys328) plus other-chapter pages already wikilinked; SKIP — no new absorbable Detroit-chapter material.
Additional NATWA-wide corpus records that frame chapter membership (headquarters-level, absorbed for chapter context, 2026-09-23 slice): the association’s 聯誼通訊 continued through at least issue 23 (679. 北美洲台灣婦女會聯誼通訊 第二十三期 (2000-08)); its 關懷資訊中心 published the 關懷網 information service (17. 關懷網 by NATWA北美洲台灣婦女會關懷資訊中心); and the memoir Our Journeys 328 (Houston TA community record) records NATWA donating $21,090 alongside the LA and San Diego 台灣會館, a Houston foundation and the 台聲合唱團 to the Houston Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund (2017) — association-wide disaster-relief giving extending beyond any single chapter’s locality.
