The Southeast Bay Taiwanese Association (SEBTA, 東南灣台灣同鄉會) is a regional chapter of the Taiwanese Association of America (TAA, 全美台灣同鄉會), the national umbrella organization for Taiwanese American community associations in the United States. The chapter is also a member association of the Taiwanese American Federation of Northern California (TAFNC), a coalition of major Northern California Taiwanese American organizations.
Role in the Community
- The chapter has its own record in the TAH story corpus: South East Bay Taiwanese Association (SEBTA) 北加州東南灣台灣同鄉會.
- 2015-05-06 — memoirist Leona Chen names SEBTA (with TAFNC and TACL-LYF) among the “fabulous role models” in Taiwanese American organizations who shaped her turn to social activism: Taiwanese Americans in Solidarity.
- 2015-05-27 — the same mentorship testimony recurs in a second first-person record: In Honor of Taiwanese Ancestry and Identity. Next-generation memoir corroborates the chapter’s youth-mentorship role beyond directory data.
- 2021-05-01 — SEBTA president Danny Chen is listed among the signatories of the Taiwanese American community response demanding the Pew Research Center restore an explicit “Taiwanese” data category: Response to Pew Research Reports Hiding Taiwanese Identity. Places SEBTA’s leadership among the TAA-chapter voices in the 2021 identity-data protest.
