Taiwan Elite Alliance (TEA) is a California-based nonprofit organization established in July 2000 by Josephine Pan and officially incorporated with the State of California in 2007. It holds 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status and works to promote Taiwanese and Taiwanese American arts and literature while protecting and enhancing human rights, freedom, and democracy for the people of Taiwan. TEA supports scholars, artists, and other community leaders in fostering understanding of Taiwanese culture and heritage among Taiwanese Americans. The organization orchestrates events, raises funds, and sponsors or co-sponsors other associations’ events, mobilizing volunteers on a per-event basis. Its programming spans regular educational programs, volunteer programs, cultural events, and political support events.
Role in the Community
- TEA (優社) co-held the annual 2-28 “Spiritual Day of Taiwan” commemorative concerts in Arcadia, CA with the Taiwanese United Fund (台灣人聯合基金會) — documented in the TAH concert archive for 2015, 2016 and 2017, showing a recurring civic-cultural partnership rather than a one-off event. (2015, 2017)
- TEA also co-organized community service: the Los Angeles River Clean Up (清掃洛杉磯河) with 臺灣人聯合基金會 (TUF). (5. Los Angeles River Clean Up by 臺灣優社 & TUF)
- The organization has its own profile entry (#20) in the TAH community record. (20. Taiwan Elite Alliance(TEA)優社)
- In 2021 TEA (台灣優社) and 台灣人聯合基金會 appear together as the two 主辦單位 (host organizations) of the 大洛杉磯台灣會館 228事件線上追思紀念會與系列活動 — the online 2-28 memorial run by the Greater Los Angeles Taiwan House — confirming the TEA–TUF partnership continued through the pandemic year. (2021 大洛杉磯台灣會館 228 線上追思紀念會 (TJJ))
- TEA (優社) is listed as a group member (社團成員) of the 台美基金會群組網絡中的 Taiwan Center Foundation of the Greater Los Angeles (大洛杉磯台灣中心) — an official organizational-network tie recorded in the Taiwan Center group-members roster (Taiwan Elite Alliance @ Taiwan Center listing).
- A TAH band-A video record preserves the Taiwanese Elite Chamber Singers performing at the Asian Choral Festival (亞洲合唱節) as part of the 台美人傳統週 series in 2017 — the chamber ensemble’s festival performance is part of TEA-era community arts documentation. (60. Asian Choral Festival — Taiwanese Elite Chamber Singers, 台美人傳統週 2017)
- Founder Josephine Pan (Taiwan Elite Alliance) is listed among the Taiwanese American community figures behind the statement “We made it count. Now tell our stories.” — the community response to Pew Research reports hiding Taiwanese identity. (Response to Pew Research Reports Hiding Taiwanese Identity)
- The TEA–TUF co-hosting record extends to 2024 and 2025: 優社 (Taiwan Elite Alliance) is named a 主辦單位 of the 2-28 台灣介心靈日 77th-anniversary commemorative concert (Arcadia Community Church, 2024-02-28), with the full concert video preserved in the corpus (77th 紀念音樂會影音全集, TJJ) alongside a host/co-organizer roster listing 優社 next to 台美人歷史協會 (TJJ coverage, 2024-04-12); 台灣人聯合基金會 and 優社 again headline the 大洛杉磯2025年二二八事件紀念會 78th-anniversary series in Arcadia (2025 78th-anniversary series, TJJ) — the annual partnership is now documented continuously 2015–2025.
