The Taiwanese Student Association (TSA) at UC Davis — known in Chinese as 台灣同學會 — is a registered student organization at the University of California, Davis. The organization brings together students who share an interest in Taiwanese culture, welcoming both Taiwanese students and those from around the world. According to its description on the UC Davis East Asian Languages & Cultures department club directory, TSA provides social and cultural opportunities for members throughout the year.
Role in the Community
-
Heir to the TSA movement of the 1960s: campus 台灣同學會 chapters descend from the first Taiwanese Student Association, founded at the University of Kansas in 1961 — 1961. The UC Davis chapter is part of this continental lineage documented across the TAH corpus.
-
UC Davis in movement history: the Davis campus hosted the 10屆世界台灣同鄉聯合會年會 (1983-07-01–04), the first 世臺會 annual conference organized by the 北加州台灣同鄉聯合會 (then under 第十屆會長黃景生) — 10; the same event appears in the Bay Area community-formation chronology — 08.
-
HOLD: the 1983 世臺會 hosting is a UC Davis campus fact from 北加州同鄉聯合會 memoirs, not a record of this registered student organization itself (its Era is Contemporary); no corpus record ties the present-day TSA chapter to that event. Not merged into the org’s own timeline.
-
2013 — campus activity record: UC Davis hosted an ITASA (台美學生社) mixer on 2013-04-27, catalogued in the taiwaneseamerican.org corpus (ITASA Mixer at UC Davis, 2013-04-27) — a contemporary record of the campus Taiwanese student circle in the chapter’s own era.
-
Sibling TSA chapters in the corpus: USC 南加大台灣同學會 — 燒肉粽 by USC Taiwanese Student Association; OSU 哥城台灣同學會 — Newsletter 會訊 by OSU Taiwanese Student Association.

Corpus check 2026-09-20 (slice 09181500-15): re-grepped content/works + content/articles — hit set identical to the records already wikilinked above (the extra ourjourneys85 match was the transliteration 愛蒙戴維斯/“Davis” in a literary quote, unrelated); no new absorbable material. Re-confirmed 2026-09-21 (slice 09201400-12): remaining “Davis” hits are the person Davis Chang / Prof. Davis L. S. Chang in TACNC memoirs — unrelated to the campus; no new absorbable material. Re-verified 2026-09-22 (slice 09211400-4): fresh ZH+EN re-grep returns the same saturated hit set (ourjourneys38, our-journeys-357, ourjourneys85, plus person-name matches Davis Chang / Davis L. S. Chang / Davison in TACNC memoirs — unrelated to the campus); no new absorbable material. Re-verified again 2026-09-22 (slice 09220800-10): fresh grep ‘UC Davis|戴維斯|Davis’ + ‘台灣同學會’ — Davis hits are again person-name matches (Davis Chang / Davis L. S. Chang in ourjourneys24-eng/53-eng/110-eng, unrelated to the campus); 台灣同學會 hits are sibling chapters — UW-Madison 威大台灣同鄉會 1963 registration fight (ourjourneys81), UW-Milwaukee 台灣同學會 1997 布袋戲團 (ourjourneys277), U-Michigan 台風眼/陳文成專刊 (ourjourneys321), UT-Austin 台灣同學會 founding letter (ourjourneys45) — none about this chapter; no new absorbable material. SKIP (saturated). Re-verified 2026-09-23 (slice 09230317-2): fresh ZH+EN re-grep returns the same saturated hit set; the only non-linked 台灣同學會 hit is ourjourneys219 — an NJIT/Stevens/NYU 同學會 volunteer mention at a 北澤西同鄉會 job panel, unrelated to UC Davis; no new absorbable material. Re-verified 2026-09-25 (slice deepen-x-slice-09231000-1): fresh ZH+EN re-grep — the one new UC Davis hit is a taiwaneseamerican.org B HERE campaign vlogger stop at UC Davis (We’re B HERE with KevJumba) — campus Taiwanese-circle context only, no chapter officer/event facts; other Davis hits remain person-name matches. SKIP (saturated).
