The Yale Taiwanese Student Association (YTSA, 耶魯臺灣同學會) is a graduate-level student organization at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. Its membership is drawn primarily from Taiwanese graduate students and postdoctoral researchers across Yale’s various schools and programs. The organization is registered through Yale’s official GSAS (Graduate School of Arts and Sciences) chapter platform, Yale Connect.

Role in the Community

No corpus record documents the modern graduate-level YTSA itself, but the corpus preserves a long lineage of Taiwanese student organizing at Yale that predates it:

  • In the late 1960s, the “自由長征” campus tour of the 全美台灣獨立聯盟 recruited early Yale members 陳隆志 and 陳東壁 (see ourjourneys 81).
  • Yale doctoral candidate 陳隆志 served as spokesman at the Williamsport Little League support event with the 台獨聯盟 banner (see ourjourneys 62).
  • 鄭義勇 and 林天民, then at Yale, were part of the East-coast theological network feeding the 夏令會 movement (ourjourneys 268).
  • Yale University appears in the 台美大學生跨校際協會 (TAUC) 1999 handbook as a member campus chapter (Yale University).
  • The 2014 ITASA (台美同學會, cross-campus) East Coast Conference and its alumni-events follow-up were held at Yale — the closest modern-Yale Taiwanese student organizing in the corpus; both are bibliographic band-B records with no organizational detail beyond the venue (2014 ITASA East Coast Conference at Yale, ITASA 2014 Alumni Events at Yale).
