Role in the Community

Primary corpus material (memoirs) records 陳夢蘭 as a founding figure of Southern California Taiwanese community institutions:

  • 南加州台灣長輩會 (elderly association) founding president. Founded 1979-05-05 as 「南加州台灣老人會」, using the Los Angeles Presbyterian Gospel Church (洛杉磯福音教會) as its first address, ~100 members; 陳夢蘭 served as the first president, with his eldest son 陳銓仁 (pharmacist) as secretary. His attempted re-election drew protest from the Presbyterian-church faction (蕭華銓 et al.), whose stated grievance was that 陳夢蘭 often stayed with his daughter in New York and missed meetings, while his own reason for seeking a second term was that a new president might turn out to be a KMT loyalist; the compromise (brokered by 曾輝光) was rotating the presidency between church factions, and 蕭華銓 became the second president, with 陳銓仁’s association archives handed over smoothly. His son 陳隆’s memoir treats the Northern California elders association as a transplant of his father’s organization. Source: 曾輝光 and 何義麟.
  • SCTFCU credit union consultant. 陳夢蘭 joined the second preparation meeting of 南加州台灣人聯邦信用合作社 (SCTFCU) in August (1980s), introduced how cooperatives operated in Taiwan (nonprofit, member-service oriented, able to issue cheques), and later served on the board as Consultant (顧問) alongside 絲建東. Before emigrating he had worked in Taiwan’s finance industry — consistent with the TAH profile listing 第一銀行. Source: 周實.
  • Mentioned in 王桂榮. Own TAH Who’s Who record: 05 (wife’s parallel record: 1030. W. I. Chen 陳石溫愛).

HOLD: TAH #1031 profile lists wife 陳石溫愛; memoirs identify sons 陳銓仁 and 陳隆 as active in LA/Bay Area community leadership — no conflict, but presidency-rotation dates (1979 vs 1980 rename) are per memoir accounts only.
