Memoir corpus identifies 陳銓仁 (pharmacist) as the eldest son of 陳夢蘭 and an active officer in early Southern California Taiwanese institutions:

  • Secretary, 南加州台灣長輩會 (elderly association). When his father 陳夢蘭 served as founding president, he hired his eldest son, pharmacist C. J. Chen, as secretary; “matters were handled very smoothly.” On the presidency changeover, all documents managed by C.J. Chen were transferred to 蕭華銓 (Hua-chuan Hsiao), the second president.   • SCTFCU founding participant and Treasurer (財務). Attended the first preparation meeting (July 24, per 周實’s account, while 周實 was president of 洛杉磯台灣同鄉會) of 南加州台灣人聯邦信用合作社; on the first board of directors he served as Treasurer (財務) alongside 周實 (社長), 劉丁榮, 王喜雄, and 曾輝光. Source: 周實.
  • Promoter of the first Taiwanese professional business guild (1974). As a pharmacist who owned the ROYAL INN motel and speaking for 南加州臺灣協會, he issued the 1974-08-13 letter urging the growing number of Taiwanese motel operators near Los Angeles to form their own trade guild; his 促成 — alongside 許錦鉻牧師’s advocacy — led to the 1974-08-17 founding meeting at the Los Angeles Presbyterian Church, described as the first commercial professional guild organized by Taiwanese in the US, with veteran operator 蔡金裕 elected convener. In early summer 1970 the lay leaders then serving at 羅省教會 (LA Presbyterian Church) — 丁昭昇、陳銓仁、林妙珠、陳慶霖、盧淑貞 and 許和瑞 — wanted to add a 台語堂; pastor 羅文 suggested they found a separate church, and 台語福音教會 was organized in October 1970, borrowing Alhambra Seventh-day Adventist church for two years before purchasing the El Sereno chapel in Feb 1973.
