Vault records (deepen pass 2026-09-10)
Absorbed from the vault couple page Ye Siya & Zhang Xinhui (葉思雅、張信惠) and the taiwanjustice.net harvest pages 葉思雅 and 張信惠 (no new sources):
- Born 1937 in Taipei to a three-generation physician family; his father, an internist, died in World War II when Ye was seven. Married 1964 to 張信惠 (Grace) — the couple met in the YMCA sacred-song choir directed by Pastor Zhang Fengchang.
- 1967 — Joined Yale’s OB/GYN department for research training; participated in developing the first fetal heartbeat monitor, enabling prenatal detection of fetal distress. 1969 — Transferred to USC under Dr. Edward H. Hon and Dr. Edward J. Quilligan, continuing fetal-monitoring research and settling in Arcadia, CA.
- 1974–1976 — Clinical residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (accelerated two-year program under Prof. Luigi Mastroianni); 1976–1978 — Columbia University faculty; 1979–1990 — USC Associate Professor of OB/GYN; chair of OB/GYN at Einstein Healthcare Network, Philadelphia (recorded in the vault couple page as 1990–2002). Over 100 published papers; guest lectures worldwide.
- 1981 — First Taiwanese obstetrician invited by the WHO to visit and lecture in China, speaking for Taiwan’s medical community. Retired from clinical medicine in 2002.
- Co-founded TARSA in 2009 with Lin Tianmin, Huang Zhiyang, Huang Youcheng and others (TARSA-SC); monthly interfaith study sessions at the Taiwan Community Center — the vault couple page records the association’s dissolution in 2020.
- With his wife established the classical-music appreciation program at the San Gabriel Valley Taiwanese Community Center (2015–2020); their joint 「週末漫談音樂」 column in 台灣公義報 reached its 100th issue in January 2022 (TJ milestone report).
- 2021-10-15 — The 信雅古典音樂珍藏專區 opened at Tainan’s 許石音樂圖書館, built from the couple’s donated 10,000+ classical CD/vinyl collection (TJ report).
Role in the Community (deepen pass 2026-10-10, corpus-internal)
- 1970 — founding support group, Formosan Presbyterian Church in Los Angeles. The church’s own history (邱惠美、李永碩, 12/2020) records that when Rev. 張瑞雄 opened the first Taiwanese church in Los Angeles, the lay supporters at the first gathering (1970-08-09, Centenary United Methodist Church) included 高光民、陳昭俊、葉思雅、李宗派、許文彬、王春雄、吳政彥 and 賴信雄 — corroborating the Who’s Who entry that he is a co-founder and one of the first elders of FPCLA ([[works/taiwaneseamericanhistory-org/ourjourneys231|TAH #231: 洛杉磯台灣基督長老教會]]).
- 2014 — published memoir. His own essay 「來美三十多年的回顧與感想」 (2014-11-10) is in the corpus as a first-person account of his American career ([[works/taiwaneseamericanhistory-org/140-e4-be-86-e7-be-8e-e4-b8-89-e5-8d-81-e5-a4-9a-e5-b9-b4-e7-9a-84-e5-9b-9e-e9-a|TAH #140]]).
- 2014 — music collection profiled. 李淑櫻’s interview 「專訪葉思雅醫師—從一萬多張的收藏說起」 (2014-10) documents the classical-record collection at the start of the donation program that later produced the 信雅古典音樂珍藏專區 ([[works/taiwaneseamericanhistory-org/mystories120|TAH #120]]).
- 2019 — donation reported. 「旅美名醫珍藏半世紀 萬張黑膠CD無償捐台灣」 (10/2019) covers the couple’s half-century of collecting and the free donation of 10,000+ vinyl/CD records to Taiwan ([[works/taiwaneseamericanhistory-org/my-stories-703|TAH #703]]) — the collection that opened as the 信雅专区 at Tainan’s 許石音樂圖書館 in 2021 (already noted above). The same donation is recorded in English as a 2019 bibliographic entry, “Donation of more than Ten Thousand Pieces of Music Records/CD, a Life-time Collection of Dr. & Mrs. Sze-Ya Yeh, to a Music Organization in Taiwan” ([[works/taiwaneseamericanhistory-org/16-donation-of-more-than-ten-thousand-pieces-of-music-records-cd-a-life-time-col|TAH #16]], published 2019-12-16).
From the record (deepen-x slice 10121722-31, corpus-internal)
- 2015-06-15 — Who’s Who entry #447. His TAH Who’s Who encyclopedia entry “447. Prof. Sze-ya Yeh 葉思雅教授” is recorded in the corpus as a bibliographic work (published 2015-06-15) — the second encyclopedia profile of him alongside entry #63 ([[works/taiwaneseamericanhistory-org/whos-who-447-sze-ya-yeh|TAH #447]]).
- 2018-08-30 — encyclopedia profile #63 published. The corpus holds his Who’s Who profile “63. Prof. Sze-ya Yeh 葉思雅教授” as a dated historical record (published 2018-08-30), corroborating the Identity Snapshot roles on this page ([[works/taiwaneseamericanhistory-org/63-prof-sze-ya-yeh|TAH #63]]).
- 2019-10-07 — private collection listed. “89. Collection of the Prof. Sze-ya Yeh 葉思雅教授的收藏” records his classical-music collection in TAH’s private-collections register (published 2019-10-07) — the same collection profiled in 2014 (TAH #120) and donated in 2019 (TAH 16) ([[works/taiwaneseamericanhistory-org/private-collections-89|TAH #89]]).
