Role in the Community

Corpus memoirs place Raymond Wu in the movement’s first rank from the 1970s onward:

  • TAA founding chapter president (Norman): the Taiwanese Association of America’s 28 founding chapters are recorded in the TAHS memoir Our Journeys 76, which lists Norman（吳瑞信）as chapter president (English record).

  • 1990 U.S. Census campaign: in the 1987–1990 Joint Committee of Taiwanese Americans for 1990 U.S. Census, he served as a Los Angeles 執行委員 alongside 陳隆 and 胡維剛, and appears on the executive staff list of the 三摺式「1990年美國人口普查簡介」(30,000+ copies printed) — see TACL census memoir.

  • 1985 organizational founding signatory: he is among the signatories listed in 台灣公論報 第369期 (1985-04-15) reproduced in Our Journeys 186.

  • Monterey Park city council campaign: the community mobilization behind his run is documented in 20. 吳瑞信決定競選蒙市議員 南加州台灣人社團傾力支持, corroborating the 1992 first-Taiwanese-American-council-candidate claim; his Who’s Who entry itself is 06. He later gave his own account of the decision to run, 「我為何要參選蒙市議員」 (2016-06) — 吳瑞信.

  • 台灣出版社 founding supporter (1983): 林衡哲’s shareholder letter recalls that the 台灣出版社 — founded 1983-10-31 at 華國飯店 in Cerritos, which in 1984 published three KMT-banned books and grew into the 「台灣文庫」 project — was established with the help of shareholder and lawyer 吳瑞信 (Our Journeys 70, 林衡哲 「台灣文庫」緣起, 2014-12).

  • 南加州台灣長輩會 legal counsel (1984–88): the 長輩會 顧問團 assembled to build the 鶴園公寓 elder-housing project (會館 1988-03-05 開幕) included lawyer 吳瑞信 alongside 黃茂清 and 廖重遠 (Our Journeys 173, 曾輝光 台美人移民史的首座里程碑, 2015-09); the English counterpart Our Journeys 173 (English) names him as R. S. Wu among the ~20-member advisory group. HOLD: the Chinese text says 二位律師 while naming three lawyers; the English translation lists three — count discrepancy held, not merged.

  • 高雄中學 alumni network (LA hosting): the 雄中校友 corpus record places 吳瑞信 among the Los Angeles hosts for the blacklist-era US speaking tour of 黃春明 (Our Journeys 283, 吳木盛, 2017-04) — an alumni-network anecdote, individual chapter membership not asserted; see 高雄中學校友會.

  • TAH encyclopedia record #289: his own 「first T. A. run for city councilman」 entry is preserved in-corpus at The first T. A. run for city councilman (Monterey Park, CA in 1992), 2016.

  • 洛杉磯同鄉會會長 / 世台會 (per 吳木盛 memoir): 吳木盛’s 世台會第二、三屆年會報告 recalls 吳瑞信 as then 洛杉磯同鄉會會長 — a 小同鄕 whose father was the author’s friend, still recognizable with his 高雄中學 air — who met the author and 黃春明 at the Los Angeles airport en route to the third 世台會 annual conference at Pepperdine University (Our Journeys 283, 吳木盛, 2017-04).

  • TACL preparatory committee consultants: the English record 台灣公論報 第269期 (1985-04-15) in Our Journeys 186 (English) lists Raymond Wu among the TACL Preparatory Committee consultants — corroborating the #186 signatory record above.

(TA magazine interview, Raymond Wu, MD) is linked to this page but describes a US-born NJ-raised physician-engineer, clashing with the 師範大學/芝加哥神學院/牧師/人權律師 profile above — likely a different Raymond Wu or misattributed subject link; not merged.
