Being always enjoying various forms of artistic expression, I took my first ceramic course at Mercer County Community College almost 30 years ago. I loved working with clay so much and decided I would pursue pottery making as my retirement hobby. Since my retirement in 1998 I have been wholeheartedly enjoying my pottery making. Now this hobby has become my passion. There seems to have this inner drive which constantly inspires me to fulfill my creation.

Role in the Community

  • 公論報 contributor: Authored 2017, a memoir piece reflecting on the spirit of the Taiwan Times (公論報) — a first-hand community voice on the movement press.

  • 公論報 leadership tie-in (family): her husband 邱義昌 (Dr. Gichiong Khu) signed as 副發行人 of 台灣公論報 in its final 2015-08 farewell notice alongside 發行人許世模 — see 2015. She is also recorded as his wife on his own page.

  • 北美洲台灣人婦女會 editor: Took over editing the 「點心擔專欄」 column in 公論報 in 2003, one of ten successive volunteer editors since 柯翠園 launched the column in 1999-05 as the women’s association “婦女習作園地” (replacing the earlier 婦女信箱) — see 陳桂蘭 (full column history per that memoir: 邱良媛 1999-2000, 王麗華 2001, 林瑞美/李素蓮 2002, 黃雪香/陳香梅 2003, 王麗華 2004-2005, 白珠麗 2006-2007, 陳美麗 2008, 陳桂蘭 2009-2011).
