National Geographic: “Moment”

National Geographic commissioned Tiffany to direct a short film as part of their “10 Days of Genius” campaign. The project required her to create a film based on one of Albert Einstein’s ten famous quotes, with the constraint that the film could not exceed 6 minutes. National Geographic provided $15,000 for production.

Tiffany was given only three weeks to prepare, shoot, and edit the film. She chose the quote: “DEATH IS NOT AN END IF WE HAVE LIVED ON OUR CHILDREN.”

Her father had passed away in June 2016, so she wrote a story about his spirit being forever remembered, combined with some of her previous works, and submitted it to National Geographic.

The project was highly competitive — National Geographic received over 100 applicants, and Tiffany was selected from the pool.

The new projects led to a significant increase in National Geographic’s Facebook viewership, and injected new creative energy from younger generations into the content.

Previous Work

Before “Moment,” Tiffany had previously created work for church/missionary groups. She used her filming in Africa (where she had worked with a church evangelism group) to apply to Art Center College of Design for her master’s program.
