Founding Member and President of East Tennessee Taiwanese American Association (1975; 1976-1977)

Role in the Community

  • Founding member of the East Tennessee Taiwanese American Association (東田納西台灣同鄉會, later TAA East Tennessee chapter). According to the chapter’s founding memoir 313. 東田納西台灣同鄉會成立簡史 (張輝雄), he was one of the five UT students — 高民環、汪雅煌、陳耀宗、林正惠、李明輝 — who organized the chapter in 1974–1975, free of the Nationalist student-union surveillance; the founding convention was held at the UT Baptist Student Center on Thanksgiving Day 1975, attended by 50–60 people (English version: Brief Introduction of TAA East Tennessee Chapter).
  • His own oral-history memoir is in the corpus: 02 (value band A — oral history, 2015-02).
  • Encyclopedia profile record: 02.
  • Org page: TAA East Tennessee.

  • Corpus grep re-verified 2026-09-21 (slice 09201500-12): hit set unchanged (ourjourneys313/-eng, encyclopedia record 293, own memoir 102). One detail newly absorbed from 張輝雄’s founding memoir: during the 1974–75 organizing phase, it was either 高民環 or 汪雅煌 (the author could not recall which) who first approached 張輝雄 to serve as founding president — evidence Uang was in the innermost organizing circle. The chapter was originally founded as 「諾誠台灣同鄉會」 (Knoxville Taiwanese Association) and only later renamed 東田納西台灣同鄉會 at the request of nearby chapters.
