The San Diego Taiwanese Cultural Association (SDTCA, 聖地牙哥台灣同鄉會) is a regional chapter of the Taiwanese Association of America (TAA, 全美台灣同鄉會), the national umbrella organization serving Taiwanese American communities across the United States. Role in the Community
- Its own history is recorded in the corpus: 41. (2018-01-24), also in English as Wang Tang; the association is held as a directory record at San Diego Taiwanese Cultural Association 聖地牙哥台灣同鄉會 and as the TAA chapter record San Diego Chapter (聖地牙哥台灣同鄉會).
- The chapter publishes its own newsletter 鄉訊, archived in the corpus: 鄉訊 by SDTCA (2015-07-28). A first-person 20-year retrospective of the San Diego Taiwan Center, drawn from the 07/2018 鄉訊, records internal organizing life — fundraising, board rosters, and the naming dispute in which LA’s 王桂榮 objected to San Diego using the 台美基金會 name first (Our Journeys 337, 2018-07-16).
- Community infrastructure in the San Diego record: the acquisition of the permanent home is told by Jinwun Winston Lue 呂錦文 in 11. The Birth of the Permanent Home for the Taiwanese American Community Center of San Diego (2014-09-05), leading to the grand opening of the Taiwanese American Community Center (162.
- Center programming documented in the corpus: a Taiwan-language school run at the center (14. 2016), the “Take a Bite Out of Hunger” food drive (28. Take a Bite Out of Hunger Food Drive, 2017), the 愛心車毯子 blanket drive (8. 愛心車毯子, 2015), a technology lecture series 認識科技演講系列 (認識科技演講系列, 2018), and the center’s role in the Asian Culture Festival of San Diego (38. Asian Culture Festival of San Diego, 2016). An activity summary record covers the center’s programs as of 2019 (Taiwanese American Community Center of San Diego 聖地牙哥台灣中心的活動, 2019-02-02).
- Bibliographic stewardship: the center’s collection of Taiwanese American publications is recorded at 聖地牙哥台灣中心 Publications by T.A. Collected in T.A. Center (2015-08-11), with an earlier record of the first public library to hold the collection (245. First public library to collect T.A. publications, 2010).
- Protest record: the chapter organized the “China, Hands Off Taiwan” protest rally documented at 8. “China, Hands Off Taiwan” Rally by San Diego Taiwanese Association (2015-08-05).
- Band-A institutional memoir Huang Cheng-yuan (2014): the San Diego Taiwan Center officially opened 1997-02-28 after a community-wide fundraising drive under 會長 陳秋山 (Chiu-shan Chen); the foundation’s site search (99 Ranch Market neighborhood considered, a former church building finally chosen) and the “one big family” identity the drive forged are the chapter’s founding-era internal record. The 20-year retrospective Our Journeys 337 continues this account.
- Senior affiliate documented separately: 6.
- 2017 Hurricane Harvey relief: 聖地牙哥台灣會館 contributed US$17,619 to a joint US$87,459 donation (with the TAA Houston Foundation, LA Taiwanese American Cultural Center, 北美洲台灣婦女會, and 休士頓台聲合唱團) to the City of Houston’s Harvey Relief Fund — Our Journeys 328.
- Foundation-era record: the Taiwanese American Foundation of San Diego / Taiwan Center celebrated its 21st anniversary and found-raising dinner on 2018-03-10 at the San Diego Taiwan Center with 200 attendants (SDTC 21st Anniversary Dinner, 2018). The 2025 oral-history interview TAF — 歐春美 Chunmei Ou Lin’s Journey records the leadership of 歐春美, CEO of the San Diego Taiwan Center and the Taiwanese American Foundation of San Diego (2024–2025).
- Neighbouring San-Diego Taiwanese records in the corpus, bibliographic only (ecosystem context, not chapter facts): 聖地牙哥台灣人生活座談會 (聖地牙哥台灣人生活座談會, 2016), 聖地牙哥台灣同鄉互助會 (聖地牙哥台灣同鄉互助會, 2016), 聖地牙哥台灣投資會 (3. 聖地牙哥台灣投資會, 2014), and 聖地牙哥台灣商會 (32. Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce of San Diego, 2016).

The center also absorbs 台美史料中心 (founded by 鄭寶鼎) holdings into its digital archive.
- Foundation-era leadership: 王克雄博士, as 台美基金會董事長, is recorded as responsible for the operation of the 13,000 sq ft 聖地牙哥台灣中心 — a building the 聖地牙哥台美基金會 acquired through community fundraising — in the 台美人物誌 profile interview 228辛酸血淚‧民主人權漫漫長路 (王克雄博士專訪) (taiwanjustice.net; original post 2016-02-28, archived 2024-09-05). The same interview records his organizing of the 聖地牙哥小英後援會 for the 2016 elections.
- Joint civic statement: in 2021-01 the center’s 理事長 歐春美 signed the joint statement of the five major U.S. (NY, DC, LA, San Diego, SF) opposing the politicisation of science in the
