The Taiwanese American Senior Society (TASS) of Greater Washington DC was officially founded on April 28, 2007, for Taiwanese Americans aged 55 and older. TASS offers a wide range of weekly and monthly programs including lectures and seminars on medicine, technology, and daily living; health and fitness activities; leisure and travel; and social gatherings to foster friendships and interpersonal relationships. Programs are held on Mondays or Tuesdays at venues including the Taiwan Culture Center in Rockville, MD, and Taiwanese Presbyterian Churches in Wheaton and Derwood, MD, with additional Saturday and Thursday sessions added to accommodate working members. The society aims to promote healthy, active, and happy lifestyles while encouraging continued learning and helping members prevent or delay the onset of dementia. Membership grew rapidly from 72 founding members to 214 members.
