The Taiwanese Association of America in Greater St. Louis (TAA-STL; 聖路易 台灣同鄉會) is a regional chapter of the Taiwanese Association of America (TAA), the national umbrella organization for Taiwanese American community associations. The chapter serves the Taiwanese American community across the Greater St. Louis metropolitan area of Missouri.

Role in the Community

  • The chapter has its own community record in the corpus: TAA-STL 聖路易台灣同鄉會 (2015-12-08).

  • Host of the Taiwanese Food and Culinary Culture Festival (台美人傳統慶:美食饗宴): [[works/taiwaneseamericanhistory-org/taiwanese-food-and-culinary-culture-festival|#24, first edition, MO]] (recorded 2015-12-22) and its 2016-06-12 edition ([[works/taiwaneseamericanhistory-org/important2016-27|#27, 2016 festival by TAA/St. Louis]]).

  • Received an appreciation plaque from Missouri State Senators on 2015-06-13, preserved as [[works/taiwaneseamericanhistory-org/17-appreciation-plaque-to-taast-louis-from-senators-of-mo-state-2015613|#17 — Appreciation Plaque to TAA/St. Louis]]; HOLD: conflict, event date 2015-06-13 in the title vs catalog date 2016-01-24.

  • Still listed in the 2019 community directory snapshot: Greater St. Louis (2019-05-07).

  • From Mu-Sheng Wu’s TAA memoir ( Mu-Sheng Wu, band A — primary material): St. Louis (聖路易) was one of the eight founding chapters of the National TACL (全國台美公民協會, alongside Houston, Kansas, Los Angeles, NYC, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle) under 總會長 吳澧培, which threw full manpower and financial support (人力和財力) behind the Taiwanese-American census (人口普查) project; the campaign opened with a joint letter from twelve groups including TAA, TACL, FAPA, 人權會, NATMA, NATPA and NATWA. Note: TACL is a distinct organization from the TAA chapter, recorded here as adjacent community history.

  • The wider St. Louis chapter ecosystem is documented in the same corpus: NATWA (St. Louis NATWA), NATMA (St. Louis NATMA), NATPA (St. Louis NATPA), NATEA (St. Louis NATEA), the St. Louis Hakka Association 聖路易客家台灣同鄉會 and TSA-STL 聖路易台灣學者協會.

  • Chapter-adjacent community records in the corpus: 28. St. Louis Taiwanese Youth Chamber Orchestra (2015-11-16) and the Newsletter of Taiwanese Presbyterian Church of Greater St. Louis (2016-08-25).

  • Chapter self-published records (re-grep 2026-09-21, slice 09201400-2). The chapter’s own community newsletter is preserved as a bibliographic record (St. Louis Chapter 聖路易台灣同鄉會, 2019-05-30); its cultural-presence activities are recorded as 20. 聖路易台灣同鄉會參加國際民俗節 (2015-11-21) and the 2014-06-01 free Heritage Celebration concert (50. 2014 台美人傳統慶免費音樂會 by TAA-St. Louis); a chapter overview exists as record 37 (37. 聖路易台灣同鄉會簡介, 2018-01-11). All bibliographic records — they confirm continuous chapter activity through 2019 but add no narrative detail.

  • City movement context (band A): the St. Louis Taiwanese Christian community that overlapped the chapter is documented first-hand in 張理美’s memoir — 1972 physician-family house meetings → 福爾摩斯基督徒圑契 (1978, registered by 張理美) → 1988 registration as 大聖路易台灣人長老基督教會, the first Taiwanese church in the US Midwest to join a mainstream US denomination (PCUSA 基底恩斯-拉芙究中會) → 1991-08-17 dedication of the first new church building built by Taiwanese Americans in the U.S. (Bovina; site-plan shaped as the character 「台」), which also served as the St. Louis Taiwanese gathering center — 張理美; building record: 1991.

  • Corpus re-grep 2026-09-20 (slice 09190130-2): fresh grep of 聖路易 / St. Louis across content/works + content/articles returned the same chapter-linked records already cited above, plus two chapter-adjacent St. Louis community records newly linked here: the 高銘憲醫師 physician interview recorded in St. Louis (902. 醫生中的醫生 — 聖路易高銘憲醫師, 04/2024), and 張瑞雄’s account of the 1980-04-24 高俊明牧師 arrest — learned at a 衛理公會 quadrennial 總會 then meeting in St. Louis, where he successfully moved the assembly’s condemnation cable to 蔣經國 ([[works/taiwaneseamericanhistory-org/our-journeys-350|Our Journeys #350]]) — evidence of the city’s religious-wing movement history adjacent to the chapter. No conflicts.
