The Stanford Taiwanese Student Association (STSA) is a non-political, non-religious, and non-profit voluntary student organization serving the community of Taiwanese students and staff at Stanford University. The organization is listed as an affiliate of Stanford’s Asian American Activities Center (A³C) and primarily serves graduate students and staff from Taiwan, helping newcomers acclimate to academic and social life at Stanford.
Role in the Community
- 2022 — record of the Bay Area tech layoff wave’s impact on Taiwanese students. A Taiwan Justice report on the Silicon Valley layoffs describes roughly 100 Taiwanese graduate students at Stanford, about 80% in tech-related fields, and quotes STSA president 林柏廷 on how the job fair that year offered mostly internships rather than full-time positions — software students felt the cutbacks most acutely (TJJ report, 2022-11-21).
