Role in the Community

  • Founding board member of the Taiwanese American Citizens League (台美公民協會): elected to its first 15-member board at the founding convention at the Biltmore Hotel, Los Angeles, 1985-07-13 (TACL 成立回憶（第一屆理事名單）、英文版 The Growth of TACL (EN)) — he also sits on the page for the league (TACL).
  • Member of the TACL preparation committee under convener 吳澧培, part of the group expanded beyond the original five members (台美公民協會籌備委員會名單); the committee held 13 meetings over five months (Feb 10 – Jul 8, 1985) before the founding convention, with members contributing money, labor, and time — English record of the same roster at TACL Preparatory Committee roster (EN); see also 吳澧培.
  • Convener of the Taiwan Center Foundation fundraising committee (百万美元募款召集人), writing on the campaign and the Wang family donation that secured the Taiwan Center venue (Thoughts and Hopes for the Taiwan Center Foundation Fundraising Effort、中文版 09): in his own essay he notes twenty years of service in Taiwanese associations, the community’s decade-plus discussion of a Taiwan Center, and the two-and-a-half-month soul-searching over the million-dollar goal — difficulty that drove some preparation-committee members to leave while most kept soliciting donations.
  • Early-1980s staff member of the Formosan credit cooperative (合作社) during its final years before the 1981 liquidation vote (合作社結業記).
