Overview

History

Founding

設教: 7 December 1980 (GSTPC40 許明遠前言). |黃德利’s 40th essay: planted in Monterey Park for 台語 worship during the 1980s immigrant wave; first year grew from three families and seven youth to 70+ in worship and 37 youth. Seven PCT pastors then in SoCal helped the plant (among them |許錦銘; 邱以正、許文將、余裕義 later deceased; 陳獻平 later in Taiwan).

潘淑姃 (GSTPC40): 1985 fifth-anniversary — 黃德利 就任首任牧師; 1988 the congregation bought the Monterey Park building (bid vs a Korean congregation after the white host church offered the property); 1990 tenth-anniversary worship; fifteenth-anniversary 獻堂; sister-church tie with 台北重新教會.

GSTPC offers a range of ministries serving different age groups and needs within the congregation:

  • Noah’s Ark English ministry — Truth and life teaching for second-generation youth and children growing up in the U.S. This program was added in recent years to more deeply pass on the Christian faith to the immigrant second generation.
  • Adult Sunday school — Weekly Bible study and instruction for adults.
  • Choir — Regular gathering and practice for the church choir.
  • 活泉 (Living Spring) fellowship — Senior member fellowship for older adults.
  • Sisters’ fellowship — Women’s ministry and small group gatherings.
  • Area home small groups — Weekday neighborhood-based small group Bible study and fellowship.
  • Discipleship training (門徒訓練) — Discipleship equipment program (listed as paused through March 2026; times subject to change).

  • 2020-04-23–25 — Hosted the 46th NTPC (全國台灣人教會聯合會) Annual Conference under the theme 「遇見上主」; the NTPC home letter names the venue as 加州好牧者台灣基督長老教會 with lodging at Comfort Inn, Monterey Park (adjacent to the church’s Atlantic Blvd address), and asks 南加州 TPC churches to attend as host church.
