吳西面 (Symeon Woo, 1931–1995) is one of the best-documented community builders in the Southern California movement record:

  • TACL 籌備顧問（1984–85） — At the 1984-12-1 round table hosted by SCTAI president 沈英忠 at a Holiday Inn near Chinatown, he was one of the twelve 同鄉 who agreed to revive the 台美公民協會 (TACL) preparatory committee: [[works/taiwaneseamericanhistory-org/ourjourneys272|TAH #272 台美公民協會的成長：從孕育到發芽 / 周實]]. Over its first decade TUF was led by five presidents in turn — 吳西面、林衡哲、吳澧培、楊子清、賴英慧 — and under them ran the signature 「台灣文化之夜」 series, ten 「台灣名家演奏系列」 concerts, and the commissioning of 蕭泰然’s three concertos: [[works/taiwaneseamericanhistory-org/ourjourneys301|TAH #301]].
  • TASA／鶴園 Flamingo Garden（1984–88） — Invited by third president 賴高安賜 onto the ~20-person advisory group that built the El Monte senior center and apartments; his recorded words at the 1988 opening: “The purpose of constructing the Flamingo Garden was not to make a profit, but to take care of the Taiwanese elders of our community.
